Christian Teachers Should Teach Based on Christian...

I believe that it is important for all teachers, but especially Christian teachers, to have and to operate within their personal educational philosophy. Knight (2006) states â€Å"Christian educators must come to see their educational systems as unified endeavors built upon a foundation of Christian philosophy† p. 164. Today, in most public schools, Christian principles are being left out, and it is important that we find ways to lead our students to truth. My personal philosophy is based upon Matthew 19:14 which states â€Å"But Jesus said, Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for such belongs to the kingdom of heaven† (KJV). Children are special and God wants us to ensure that they are getting the best education possible. I am planning to teach children between the grades of Pre-K and Kindergarten because I feel children in this age group are strongly influenced by their teachers. I believe that God’s word is truth and that God wants teachers to make sure children are getting truth. I want my students to value God’s word and all of His creations. They should take pride in caring for each other and the environment but they should also value their education. As a teacher, I will be a positive, Godly role model for my students. As a public educator, I will influence my students by modeling behaviors consistent with the fruits of the spirit.
